Our Trip to Zambales

just before the year ends, we finally had our long-overdue trip to san antonio, zambales. we were supposed to go there last august, for my birthday. unfortunately, we lacked finances and were forced to reschedule it october. for events we couldn't control, the weather was bad. so, we ended up waiting for a perfect timing to go.

december is a perfect month - there's the money (the 13th month pay), he already got regularized, good weather, and a month of celebration. after knowing what his rest days are, i filed a leave so we could go. and we agreed on these dates - december 20-22, 2009.

we arranged the trip a week before the schedule. from the contacts i got online, i texted someone to bring us to our destination, by motorized boat. we left manila sunday morning, around 9am. we arrived in san antinio 1pm. after buying other things like rice, charcoal, junk food, water and fish, we took a trike going to barangay san miguel, where our boatman was waiting for us.

we hopped onto the boat at 2.30pm and arrived in our first destination, the nagsasa cove, around 3.30pm. we immediately put up our tent and explored the place. it was very quiet. there were no other campers around. aside from the care takers, we were the only visitors in the place.

after taking some pictures, we prepared our food for dinner. it wasn't much, but delicious nonetheless - grilled dried and fresh fish with fresh tomatoes (yummy!). that was enough to keep us through the night. we then settled inside our tent. good thing it didn't rain that night.

the following day, we went to talisayin cove. it looks almost the same as nagsasa cove, except the concrete houses built for a resort. just like in nagsasa, we had the place all to ourselves. we climbed to the viewing deck where we had a wonderful view of the cove.

our next stop was the anawangin cove - the most famous of the 3 coves. there were other campers here. there's the pump well and the concrete restrooms. in all these coves, there are pine trees instead of the usual coconut trees one sees along beaches. and they are at the foothill of beatifully landscaped mountains. it's so not like the Philippines.

our last stop was the capones island. unfortunately for us, the waves were big that we were not able to dock at the nearest area to the light house. we vowed to visit this place again, and the other place we were not able to visit - camarra island.

all in all, the trip was worth it. though it's just the two of us, we had fun. we had a great and quality time together. and we thank the Lord for keeping us safe in the entire trip.
